Fieldwork
Dagur
Dagur (ᠳᠠᠭᠤᠷ ᠬᠡᠯᠡ) is an endangered Mongolic language mostly spoken in northeastern China. Its two major dialects, Butkha and Qiqihar, are spoken in the Nonni (ᠨᠤᠨ ᠮᠥᠷᠡᠨ) basin; Hailar, another dialect, is spoken in Hulun Buir (ᠬᠥᠯᠥᠨ ᠪᠤᠢᠷ) of eastern Inner Mongolia. My fieldwork on Dagur mainly focuses on the morphology within its nominal domain.
Chakhar Mongolian
Currently, I am conducting fieldwork on Chakhar Mongolian (ᠴᠠᠬᠠᠷ ᠮᠣᠩᠭᠣᠯ ᠬᠡᠯᠡ), spoken in Shilingol (ᠰᠢᠯᠢ ᠶᠢᠨ ᠭᠣᠣᠯ) and Ulaanchab (ᠤᠯᠠᠭᠠᠨᠴᠠᠪ) aimags (ᠠᠢᠮᠠᠭ) of Inner Mongolia. I am interested in the phenomenon of flexible word order (scrambling), as well as the syntax of anaphora in this language. I am also interested in the syntactic and morphological variations between Chakhar and Khalkha Mongolian.
